Hi all,
I have an option to pick up a Millipeded. Powersupply needs replacing/fixing... what is one of these worth? (Dont want to overpay)
Also, what is the real difference between Centipede and Millipede? can both games exist in a single cab? Is there a reason to?
Thanks.

If you have a Millipede you are lucky, there's a multi-game kit to run Centipede on a Milipede board:

The big difference between Centipede and Milipede is speed and colors I guess....but I never played either on my Jamma cab because I never got to install the trackball......

Millipede is much for frantic...more stuff going on...more enemies to deal with...the play field moves up each stage...lots of things. Centipede is easier as well.
I like both.
[edit - fixed stage]

Thanks for the info... Now I just need to talk the wife into it. :)

If you look into buying a Millipede.... note what monitor it has in it.
The Matsushita monitors that normally come in those are known to have color guns die in the tube. Which means there will be a color that is very weak or totally dead.

That is good to know! I will check on the monitor type.

This is based on what I read in books, and from what I've seen myself. I'm not sure if I'll make myself clear, either :-[
With Centipede, you can develop a strategy to win the game. I've seen a guy (back when Centipede was still hot at the arcades) who used to get all of the mushrooms built up with a tunnel, and the centipede would come down the tunnel, and he would shoot it quickly. If you look at old "how to win" type books, you'll see authors who use this strategy.
With Millipede, there is a random regeneration of the mushrooms, and therefore there is no way to use these type of strategies. It's basically a vertical shooter where the 'pedes come faster and faster.
I find Millipede more fun since there's more variety. But for those who like to memorize Ms. Pac-Man levels, Centipede may be the better game.

Mario... Thanks!!! that is a great explanation of the differences.
Just got the go ahead from the wife (she is truly great!!) to get it, so assuming it all checks out in person, I will pick it up. :applaud:
