Title: Interchangeable parts? SNES D-Pad & PS2 D-Pad?

Ok, I just noticed something. The D-Pad on the SNES controller and the D-Pad in the PS2 controller are similar in size. I was wondering if the middle was cut out of the PS2's D-Pad area if the SNES's D-Pad could be put in its place. Has anybody done this before?
