Title: courier / shipping services between Canada and the U.S.
Post by: Arm123 on December 06, 2007, 07:04:00 pm
Just wondering what other services are being used out there besides UPS and FedEx.

If so, what were your experiences like ?

Reason being, i am shipping counter top machines to the U.S. and exploring some options.  The machines are about 85lbs (20 x 16 X 20.5) UPS came up the most expensive (no surprise) at $250, but they pack for you.

Perhaps i should look at some arcade specialized shipping companies ?

Found this when searching http://www.paraseek.com/arcade/

Any thoughts are welcome.

No clue there.  Hopefully someone with experience in that region chimes in.

If its anything like here...  you’ll be getting raped for brokerage fees.

There are at least 2 or 3 members at CGCC who ship countertops to the US.

I notice that none of them have chimed in in response to your posting there ... not sure I can comment as to why... well I could, but apparently I am a troublemaker (not sure where the new custom title came from ... I liked the last one better).

USPS will come in by far the cheapest.  Never, ever, EVER ship UPS

They will gouge you on shipping, they'll gouge you on fees at the border, they'll gouge you "brokerage".  Ship anyone but UPS or you'll regret it.

I ordered about $2,500 + of stuff, USPS and shipping from Ultimarc in the UK (figure that out) came in the cheapest

Yup.  Cheap, fast, and accurate tracking.
