Latest idea for my CP is to have 2 x Turbo-Twist 2 spinners on it, leaving enough room so that I can play 2-player driving games without swapping panels by attaching the 5" mini-racer wheels.
I take it the TT2 Spinners are good for controlling the steering in mame games such as Out Run, Pole Position, Super Sprint, etc.?
Also, how high up do the 5" mini wheels sit from the surface of the CP. I may have pushbuttons underneath the wheels so want to make sure they don't get in the way.
Cheers!

Yup! any driving game that used a 360 degree wheel works perfectly with them. Some of the others work OK too but you then have to know where centre position is. No idea about the height of the 5" mini wheel. I don't use one.

To add to Fozzy's answer, Pole Position and Super Sprint have the 360 degree wheels, while Out Run has a 270 degree wheel.
One quick and dirty way to find which games used which wheel type, go to the deluxe search over at maws (http://www.mameworld.net/maws/). Searching for genre: driving & controller: dial, you'll about 30 parents of games with 360 degree wheels. With genre: driving & controller: paddle, you get about 70 parents with 270 degree wheels. The lists are missing some games, though; they must be listed with a different controller or genre (like hard drivin' listed in maws with [analog] stick controller, which it did have for the gear shift; maws currently can do only one controller type per game).

Thanks for your replies! So is it possible to play Out Run (and other paddle/270 degree games) well with a spinner? Has anyone tried it with successful results... or does it make the games too difficult?
Cheers

This is very much personal opinion. The feel is different, and some people want a certain feel.
IMO, some 270 games do okay with 360 wheels, but it's still not as good as with 270s. Others I just suck with a 360. But some people like 360 on the games I suck, and others don't like the games I think are okay. :dunno
