Title: error 14F in the vesa call?
Post by: peterpiper70 on May 11, 2003, 08:56:28 am
Next step then guys!!
I`ve got the thing up and running (thanks to tom61`s help, cheers m8)
I can now see the start screen of arcadeos with the list of games on my hanterex 9200. Problem is, when I try to run a game I get the error message: error 14F in the vesa call 4f06/02 (set scan line length)
I am using on board video so I am not sure whether the vga set up I have will work with my monitor but I thought it`s worth giving it a try! Do I assume that as I am getting a good picture with the arcadeos front end that it will work with mame?
Anyone have any ideas?
thanks in advance
pete

You probably need Sci-Tech Display Doctor for DOS then. Your onboard video probably doesn't support VESA well enough for mame, and SDD fixes that.

 Thanks for the reply tom61,
Am I better to get a matrix g400 and plug that in? I am guessing it will be much easier to set up and no messing with other programs.
If I purchase one of these will it just be a case of plugging it in to the agp slot and away we go or will I have to start the set up routine over again?
thanks again
pete

With DOS and arcadeOS, no more configing should be needed. Not positive how well the G400 handles VESA modes at 15kHz, though. Oh yeah, make sure you get the dual-head version, I think that's the one that works best at 15kHz.

Or you could end the madness now, and shell out for the ArcadeVGA...
