Title: exiting a game in MAME
Post by: unit416 on December 01, 2007, 05:54:57 pm
This is a very basic question but how do you exit a game in MAME? I can't find anything that will take me out of a game except ctrl/alt/del and use task manager. ESC doesn't do anything in any front end for me. I'm leaning toward using GameEX and nothing will get me back to the front end.

I believe Escape is the default.

Press Tab and check the controls for what yours is set to.

As crummy said, the default must have changed.

Tab, "Input (general)", User Interface, UI Cancel and remap.
Or delete default.cfg file in the cfg folder, but this will remove all remappings you did with "Input (general)".
Or open default.cfg file in the cfg folder in a text editor, and delete the part that says port type="UI_CANCEL" ... to ... /port (including the less than and greater than symbols).

If that doesn't help, you might be using a ctrlr file, but I won't get into that unless the above doesn't work.
