this is mainly aimed towards those who has a cabinet with support for 4 players, but anyone can throw in their 2 cents. :)
What are some dimensions on a cp that would have room for 4 players?? I drew out a 3d picture of my cabinet in autocad and i made the cp to be 38x12. I wanted to have 2 joysticks with street fighter setup in the center and on each side, a joystick and button setup like neo geo. there should also be a a trackball in the middle. my initial design is to follow lusid and the ultimate 2 cab structure, but extend the sides of the cp to accomodate 4 players without rubbing elbows and also make the width of the cp shorter so its not like a shelf before reaching the screen. is there a reason the panle should be more than a foot in width? and i'm pretty sure 38inches is too short.
if you guys would like to see my cad drawing, i need instructions on how to convert it to gif.

mine is 42" wide, the player 3 & 4 possitions only use 4 buttons (don't need more...don't use any console emulators) I angled the sticks, and the edge of the cp 45 degrees to give more elbow room

wish I had a camera, it would be much easier to show, but the middle sticks are straight, with 7 buttons each, trackball in the middle, the outside sticks are angled in at 45 with 4 buttons

Mine is 46"X20" but is not built so I cannot comment on the spacing but from looking at other peoples projects it appears to be close to this size with no problems.

I have a 4-player control panel which I think works very well. My dimensions are 56"wide x19"deep.
I can send you pictures if you request them .... emailAddrRemoved.
BTW: I decided "not" to angle my 3 and 4 player joysticks to much to allow more elbow room. I angled them ever so slightly instead. If I did that then playing games which required two joysticks to play (Smash TV, Karate Champ, etc..) would be impossible since one joystick would be angled.

The SlikStik Quad is 48" X 21. I think the size is great for 4 players considering that it will probably be 4 adults using it ;D. If you are going to build your own you could go a little smaller but I think this size works pretty well, you could eliminate the trackball and pick up a few inches. You could also make one deeper like the gauntlet panel which was more of a square.
You can go to www.klov.com and search for 4 player games and look at the design of those panels for inspiration.

I'm shooting for 48" in my new CP
