Title: Two questions/problems with mame
Post by: Wiibound on November 29, 2007, 08:59:30 pm
1) How do I get my mouse to work well as an analog input for racing games like cruis'n usa? I can get it to work apparently but it just doesn't work if you know what i mean. Like during the track select barely one touch brings the wheel all the way around and i have no actual control. How do I get the pedal to work too? What are the right settings? Can I plug in a Playstation2 controller (using a USb converter) and use that? Is there anyway to replace an analog pedal with a digital button?

2) Sometimes in games or menus things can be laggy... like for example say I'm holding down in a menu, or right on the joystick in donkey kong, and I let go but the cursor/jumpman keep going for like a second.. is this a computer problem (dual core processor semi-recent) or is it because I'm using the newest mame and that's optimized for the most recent computers or something?

If you hit Tab while in the game, you'll see a section for analog controls. Sounds like decreasing the analog sensitivity might help. I'd do this on a per game basis rather than global, since you don't want to hose up the regular games.

Can only venture a wild guess at your second question, but I suffered similar symptoms from a stuck button. The system would sometimes run normal, then go crazy and run real slow. Initially, I thought it was a computer problem.
