Title: Extension cord for VGA cable on the Betson 27" Monitor?
Post by: DeLuSioNal29 on November 28, 2007, 02:52:36 pm
Hello everyone!

I was wondering if extending the VGA cable on the Betson 27" monitor ( http://www.betson.com/products/IMP-44-4070-RT ) would degrade or harm anything.  I will be using my "everyday" computer to run the arcade until I can save up for a dedicated unit.  So I would be running the extension from the computer to the monitor approximately 8 feet away whenever I would want to use the computer for the arcade.

Just figured I'd check before I tried it.  I didn't want to damage anything.

Thanks in advance for the input!

Damage anything..... no.
Quality of image.... depends on quality of cable used.

But yes, it should work fine.
8' isn't all that long of a run.

I also think you should be fine.  May I recommend monoprice.com cheap/high quality cables?

How are you planning to hook up the controls 8 feet away?

I was being conservative by saying 8 feet.  It's actually about 4 - 5 feet max.  I just wanted to make sure it would be OK and that the signal would not suffer.  My arcade is going into my computer room/office/arcade  ;D So the arcade unit would be sitting right next to my computer desk.  I would probably get an extension for the control panel, and sound card too.  No biggie.  I was mainly concerned with the video portion.
