I have no real "monitor" skills to speak of but I do know how to solder wires and stuff.
I am trying to locate a small LCD monitor to use in a portable Mame cabinet which am I thinking of building. The largest size of monitor which would fit for me would be about 10". As a result, I searched Ebay and found the following LCD monitor available:
http://cgi.ebay.com/SHARP-10-Monitor-LCD-Panel-LM80C032-TV-Screen-74H0620_W0QQitemZ180184515874QQihZ008QQcategoryZ51161QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
I am wondering how easy/hard this would be to connect to a computer system? Is it a simple matter of connecting wires from this 10" LCD monitor to the VGA output port of the computer ...... or is it a lot more painful and not worth pursuing?

Please note that the ebay link you provided is simply an lcd panel without a controller board. It is basically useless without a controller board.

Yeah, it just states that it "Refurbished" .... but doesn't clearly state whether or not it has the controller or not.
So you may want to send them a message and ask.
And you would still need to know the full specs on the LCD and controller to determine what resolutions etc that it will handle.
But definitly a worthy project idea for sure.

Ok, thanks for the input .... I had no idea about the controller part ... I will ask.

Its a laptop replacement panel, thus it definitely does not have control board.

My mistake.
I was thinking of the inverter and all that.
I've seen laptop LCD's and such listed that "come with controller"..... but I guess it would just be sitting externally then when you recieved it. (for the smaller lcd's that is)
I would imagine the larger desktop PC versions would have the controller built in though. (?)

Ahh .. ok then .... thanks.
Hey .... does anyone know where to get a cheap 10" LCD screen which can be hooked to a PC?
