I've decided to switch my design plan from a bar top to a small Japanese sit down. When I was making the designs for my bar top I had a few examples to look at, but with the Japanese sit down I can't seem to find any. Has anyone even tried constructing a wooden one?
Well if anybody has anything like plans or measurements of any Japanese sit down I'd greatly appreciate it if you could post them.

Here's me playing Samurai Shodown on the floor at California Extreme this year. I was extremely perterbed because it was the only Neo Geo in the house and it didn't even have Samurai Shodown 2. :-\

I love me a game of Samurai Shodown, but playing on your knees really sucks :badmood:

I have a sit-down Japanese Sega Astro cabinet with a 29" Nanao monitor in it. Happy to provide pics if desired. Very nice, esp. for the kids! White cab in the middle of my sig picture below.

That thing is awesome. I wish I could get my hands on one of those in the U.S.

Unfortunately don't get to play it so much now because I'm always busy putting new cabs together! That, and I am also going thru a "shmup" phase so I'm playing more games on my vertical cab ;D
Japan is full of these things. Huge arcade rooms full of these 29" cabs (and cigarette smoke). They also come in an unbelievable two-monitor Vs design for streetfighter-type games, where players sits opposite each other and have a complete control panel and 29" monitor to themselves! No interference possible!!
A couple of years ago, a local arcade operator shipped a couple of container loads of them over to Oz from Japan. A mate and I managed to get the last two available. Got 'em converted to Oz power supply. Occasionally you would see them reappear on ebay, but lately it just seems to be the ---smurfy----looking 25" clones.
Maybe someone entrepreneurial can send a bunch of them over to the US?

I too am very interested in building something like this.
I would like to build a wood approximation of an Aero City cab.
Has no one done this?
-
Nope.
I bought a Jaleco Pony instead.
That was much easier than building one.

I used to have one, they are pretty cheap when they come up. I think I paid $250 and it included the monitor and was complete except for the board. Picked it up in LA, they ship those over her cheap just like the pachislo's & pachinko's. Can't imagine a wood one really as it is a plastic mold but heh, to each his own.

A member named TheRed over at killercabs.com built this really neat looking thing.
I think it is very much like what I want to build.

And Cigarbob from shoryuken.com/forums built these very nice cabs for the Evolution tournament series.
By the way, if TheRed or Cigarbob is reading this: If you guys don't want your pics here just message me and I'll take them down right away.
