I was taking a look at Scott's Unicade design and he says that he used angle iron to mount his monitor into the cabinet frame (http://home.austin.rr.com/shumate/unicade/cabinet.htm (http://home.austin.rr.com/shumate/unicade/cabinet.htm)). I've never worked with angle iron before and I was wondering if I can buy the angle iron that Scott used or if he made it somehow. It looks like the angle iron has one 90 degree angle, is flat for about an inch and then has some sort of hinge, or bend in it to account for the monitor angle in the cabinet. Something like this:

Am I seeing this correctly ??? The picture isn't that close up so I can't really tell. Does anyone who knows about angle iron have any ideas ?

you can buy angle iron at most hardware stores.
the kind he's using has a 90 degree bend in it and
has holes all over it for passing bolts through.
Near as I can tell from his pics it looks like he used
another piece of similar material with all the holes in it but no angle,just flat. He mounted a piece of this to the top and bottom of his monitor. Then found a couple of places on the the top and bottom of the monitor where the holes line up with the angle iron , passed some bolts through and tightened it up.

Thanks for the input slug54, I think I understand what you are saying but with the angle his monitor is sitting it seems like there must be a bend somewhere. If not in the actual angle iron itself then possibly in the material that was attached to the monitor. Without some sort of bend that monitor angle seems impossible. Maybe I'll just pick up some angle iron and play around with it, I think I may be making this seem more complicated than it really is but the picture sort of has me confused.
I'm really just trying to find a good way to mount a 27" WG monitor in a cabinet such that it is removable. I also want my monitor mounted at an angle so I was going to try to follow his mounting directions but it seems there are some details missing. I tried e-mailing him but no luck yet.

From the pics it appears that the angle is bent under 90deg on the top and over 90deg at the bottom. This type of angle, referred to as slotted angle (http://www.wbsshelving.com/shelvingcatalog/slottedangle1.htm), is pretty light gauge (14, I think) and can be bent like this. This is a good way to install a monitor that has a universal frame like that one.
Slug54 is right, I see this type of angle in hardware stores and home improvement centers all the time. Very common stuff.

I've never even seen those plans but coincidentally that's how I mounted my monitor. If you use a decent gauge and have a hack saw handy you shouldn't have any problem at all. It works very well.
(I cheated. I used a Dremel with a cutting bit.)

Is it possible to buy this stuff that's NOT at a 90-degree angle? Or can one bend it? The reason I ask is because I'm looking for a good solution to having a plexiglass retainer (as seen at http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?board=1;action=display;threadid=4779;start=msg33792#msg33792).

From what I saw at Home Depot it was all at 90 degrees but I'm pretty sure its bendable (as Oscar mentioned).
