Ok, I need some help, I am stumped. I have several older DELL GX240s, and a GX280. I have installed MAME on them, with TinyXP Beast, then the Graphics and Sound drivers. MP3s play fine, video in MAME looks great, but the sound in MAME is choppy/stuttery. All 4 PCs do it, and they are not even all the same. The GX280 has different drivers than the GX240s do. Triplrbuffering is not turned on in MAME (read somewhere about that). Anyone have any ideas? I am planning on building several Bartop Cabs for Christmas presents, and really need to figure this out. I used the same setup (TinyXP, MAME 120, Mala FE) on a different, non-Dell PC, and it worked fine. They do both use a version of Soundmax drivers, and both are integrated. Any help?

Ok, some more info: I installed MAME32 (UI), juts to check out if it was MAME, and MAME32 does the same thing. But, I also downloaded a few PC games (Best Friends Forever, Tradewinds, etc) and they play perfectly--so it IS a MAME thing, somewhere. Both MAME and MAME32. And yes, I didn't just try one Rom..used Out Run, Bunch of NeoGeo games, and a few other things...same result with all

How fast are your processors, if you have a slower computer you will probably want to use an older version of mame. I don't remember exactly at what version the system requirements shot up (I want to say .111 or .112 but I am sure someone around here knows for sure).

One is a P4 3.0, the others are P4 1.7s....not that good, but not really that bad either.
I will try an older version, see if it makes any difference.

Well, sure enough...I downloaded 1.04, and it works like a champ. What happened that messed up the new versions?
