I purchased a gun # 96-2300-12 with the harness adapter # 96-00670-00 from Happ as a replacement for a poorly performing gun on my area 51 site 4. The existing gun works but is off a little to the left and physically looks bad. The replacement gun will NOT calibrate. When trigger is pressed it does flash white on the screen. I notice a red dot at first during the initial trigger pull but it quickly disappears. It does NOT show up on "tracking" mode either. I tried the new gun on both sides but same result. Thanks in advance for any ideas.

sounds like a bad sensor board, did you get the gun with the cable as well?
-
Yes the gun came complete with cable. It required a harness connector to mate from the new gun cable to the existing wiring harness cable connector. All was plug and play. The old gun works and the new one does not so it makes sense that the issue is the new Happ gun or their wiring adapter. It does however make the white flash on the screen.

Take the new gun apart. I bet the connector on the optic board has slipped partly off during shipment. Reseat it.

Thanks for the tip. I'll need a special tool to open the tamper-proof screws which look like a torque head with a added center pin. I wonder if I can get that at a hardware store? If I have to order it I am looking at several days.

I know that ace hardware carries those.

This may help ?
I know in the UK I can buy a complete set of Torx Secutity bits for about £4

I got the tool at home depot and opened the gun.
I was disappointed to see all connections were good.
The new gun was all over the place on the screen. After several swapping of this and that, I decided to take the opto board from the old damaged gun and install it in the replacement along with the old wiring harness (I am impatient and did not want to wait till Monday for answers). I now have the new gun (with old board) working great.
