Title: Console games on arcade monitor

Once I have my cab set up, I would like to try NES and SNES games on it.
I understand the original video of the SNES is 256x224 progressive for the most part.  I assume this image would be processed by the SNES for TV's by displaying odd and even lines alternately.
Is this correct?

Now, when playing them on an arcade monitor, would you just display them using a 256x224 progressive signal and it would look as good or better as it does on a TV?
How about the few games that actually used hi resolution interlaced modes?

Any pointers as to how to best display console games on an arcade mointor will be appreciated.

Most console games are standard-res and you can display them at their native resolution.  The ones that use interlace (for example, SNES High-Res Mode) end up being interlaced.   They should look better than on a TV, since you are sending straight RGB to the monitor.

Stock NES's do not have RGB out. NES only outputs a Composite or RF signal. To retrieve the RGB, you'll need a convertor which negates any benefit of RGB or hack the NES itself to draw the RGB out.

The SNES has the "Universal" video adapter compatible across SNES, N64 and GCN (I didn't check to see if the Wii uses the same connector). You should be able to find a SCART adapter that you should easily hack to the arcade monitor. Don't know if the SNES supports RGB output though.

I get the feeling that those games will look great.
I was actually planning to use an emulator.

What I don't know is if SNES emulators can be configured to output progressive when the source video is progressive and interlaced when required.  Does it even matter?  Would displaying the originally interlaced video parts in progressive look just as well as in interlaced mode?

A lot depends on the emulator.  In my experience, most console emulators (other than MESS) do not have very good video options compared to MAME.  I never really found a resolution that seemed ideal in ZSNES on my multisync monitor for example.  Either the game was incorrectly stretched (wrong aspect ratio) or too blurry.  It was certainly better than a TV though.

I just got an Gauntlet Dark Legacy cab (like new) with a clean nice 27" Neotec...

I've tested SNES, Turbo Duo, Genesis (few machines) PS1/PS2.

  None work/sync, except Snes & Sega Genesis Machines.

 One small problem with the Genesis/Xeye/CDX all the same have some sort of screen tearing at the top in some games which is weird. Look at the pics below, can you identify what can cause that?

Now this does not occur on every screen of the game, some screens seem to sync ok.
Seems not having to do with brightness or colors on the screen...

Also when using the actual game board the contrast level is set at 45 to look good, SNES and MD has contrast at 87. Seems dark if I don't bump it up.

Do we need any components with these consoles when using the RGB out with arcade display..!?
I did make an amp for the Turbo Duo but that also does not sync.
