I just purchased the lcd topgun and was getting ready to set things up. I have a 32" lcd so I want to mount the led strips on the top and bottom rather than the sides, to avoid having to stand 9 feet away.
I read that a person theoretically should be able to do this but has anyone had success mounting the strips horizontally? I did a search and the only posts I saw were where people had issues when mounting horizontally.

Yes.... No problems.... : Lots of people have mounted them horizontally.
The calibration routine is exactly the same. Just follow the instructions and it will work. 99% of the reported problems have been due to failures to install drivers correctly or due to failures to follow the hardware calibration properly or due to failures to set MAME up properly to use them, followed by failures to calibrate the individual games in software.
As long as you take those steps properly it will work.

Horizontal mounting is covered in the BYOAC Wiki
I used these instructions to mount mine horizontally. I would recommend following them exactly since they mention a placement of the #1 strip's power LED and calibration firing order specific to horizontal mounting.
