Title: How hard would it be for me to get a single old-school joystick (ie. Wico?)
Post by: Wiibound on November 16, 2007, 09:10:29 pm
If I were looking for just a single (ok ok maybe two) old style leaf joystick such as the Wico joysticks in TMNT/X-Men (Were Ms. Pac-Mans originally Wico?) how hard and how expensive would it be nowadays? Assuming the joystick is in great condition, or same q? for somewhat bad condition?

Not actively seeking one right now so thats why I put this here.

Keep you eyes peeled on ebay and you'll find some pretty quick.  Used ones can be had pretty cheap, but you never know what kind of shape they're in.  New or Like-New will go for around $20-30/stick these days.

Make sure you're getting genuine Wico- if the switches attach with screws to little metal L-brackets, you're looking at the crappy Chinese knock-offs.  You don't want those.  Real Wicos have snap-in switches.

Oh well that's not bad. I'd gladly pay $30 for a new one someday (I'm surprised that "Real genuine" arcade parts are so relatively cheap as it is.. arcade machines used to be $5000). More of a collector's/preservers kind of thing
