Anyone ever play this? Seems like the original arcade Tron is
one of the holy grails around here, and I know the PC version
of this is cool, but I thought I'd give this a try too... and it's
surprisingly very good, for a Gameboy cart.
Most of the game is a 3d isometric adventure where you play
as Tron himself (and it's voiced by that brilliant thespian, Bruce
Boxleitner, who played the original Tron in the movie).

As you adventure around, you can even take control of vehicles...
tanks, etc. which changes your perspective and adds gameplay.
The tank game played a lot like an amped up Battlezone.

Shot of the light-cycle battle game: This part of the game is
accessible from a "Battle Mode" section so you don't have to
adventure around everywhere to play the minigame.
You can also select different cycle styles (new and classic)
and different colors.

The best part is, there's a section called "minigames"
accessible from the main menu, that includes full versions
of the arcade Tron and Discs of Tron games! It kinda poorly
emulates them, as the screen shakes a little at first, but the play
is alright. Spinner control is done via the left-right shoulder buttons,
a little awkward but given the GBA's controls I don't see what else
they could've done. The Start key even simulates a combination
quarter-drop and start key press.
(no screenshots, but hey do you really need one?)
I think most reviewers that gave this a B-score were comparing
it to the more advanced games of today, vs looking at it as
a good arcade diversion. My score? A-
(mostly because the learning mode when you start the game
can't be skipped and die-if-you-fall-off-the-path gameplay
is annoying) Bonus points for the Easter-egg like inclusion
of the classics..

Thanks for the tip, looks cool.
Are those frogs in tron suits? :laugh2:

Yup, definitely frogs. Must be some carry-over from
an old Parker Brothers game cartridge ;D
