i've had my arcade cab setup with gamex working great for 4-5 months.. so all of a sudden when i turn it on today the screen is out of place.. there are 2 black bars on the left and right of the monitor about an inch wide.. The monitor is a Betson 27" multi sync.. it doesnt matter what resolution i put the monitor to, degauss it, or stretch it with the controls , there are still these bars on the left and right.. i tried unplugging everything to maybe reset something but no luck.. is there a hard reset anywhere for the monitor, or anything else i can do to get back to how it was previously? :timebomb:

Other than going back in a time machine? How about posting a picture... 8)

here you go.. as you can see, theres 2 black lines on the left and right side of the monitor.. the blue lines on the screen should extend off the edges of the screen but now its almost like everything got smashed inwards 2 inches.. i just dont get it because it was fine and then like this when i turned it on once.

And I'm guessing the width control is maxed out?
-
yeah, well actually it wasnt maxed out before, but now if i max out the width it looks like it does in the pic.
-
you will need to replace the mylar cap that is off of one leg of the width coil....Bob has a great write up on it.... and a nice kit to get for just this problem...

i read the whole thing and understood about 5% of it..
he says to try recapping the monitor first to fix it... what does this mean?
anything else i can try before i... attempt this.. :dizzy:

No...that's a basic first step. It means to change out the electrolytic capacitors on the monitor PCB.
If you're daunted by doing this, post your area, there may be someone close that can help.

i live in Fort Lauderdale, FL and yeah i don't really think i can attempt this myself.. the monitor freaks me out and i feel like i'm going to kill myself if i touch it.

It's good to be afraid.. I got shocked by monitor once, it sucked...

so on that page i dont really see the walk through on how to change the piece.. also he has a link but i dont see a link to actually buy the piece.

top of the page...you just unsolder the mylar cap (keeping it and not trashing it!!) and install another (larger cap for a smaller pic and a smaller cap for a larger pic)
-
are there people that do house calls to fix this kind of thing? a. i dont want to take my monitor out of my cab and haul it somewhere.. and b. i dont want to do it myself for fear of dying. :badmood:

anyone?

I'd do it if you were closer. But if you want to pull the chassis and ship it to me...
edit: you've got a monitor I don't have the means to work on at the moment. For some reason I thought you had a G07. Glad I reread.
Betson can fix your chassis. Betson New England has Al, he's a wiz with monitors.
