Title: Help with MAME 32 error
Post by: scuzzie on November 10, 2007, 07:21:31 am
Everytime I run a game in MAME32, I get the error box and message . .

'Unable to load PNG file 'Scan75.png''

I click OK and the game runs . . . .

has anyone got any ideas on how to resolve this?

thanks

Not sure what Scan75.png is, but I would be tempted to just create and save a Scan75.png file and see what happens ...

good suggestion . . . but didn't work  . . . I put one in my root directory as well as the MAME32B directory which has all the MAME directories in it no change

thanks

Try downloading a few different versions of Mame32

Ive found several can vary from machine to machine.

A stable version is Mame .117

Does it happen when you first run/open Mame32,  or when you scroll through game selections, or only when you actually run a game?
Does this happen when you run any game? Or just a  specific one?

It happens when I run any and all games, as soon as I double click on a game or press enter, th first thing that happens is a little error box pops up.  It has been happening for the last many versions of MAME32

thanks for your interest in helping

That's just weird.
Thought it may have something to do with your background/artwork/cabinets/cpanels/marquees directories or the files in them - did you check them for a 'scan75.png' .  Also in the 'options' 'directories' settings do you have any path set to something ending in 'scan75.png'.
Other than that,  havn't a clue, unless for some reason, if you were using a certain version of romsets, after a certain version of mame32 it started looking for something that would only be in the matching or newer version of romsets.
??? :dunno ???

Scan75.png was a file that could be used to simulate scanlines, but looks like it's been renamed?  (I don't use the effect, so I'm guessing at the renaming.)  I don't know mame32 very well either, but go into the default game options advanced and turn off effect or select a file that exists.
