The 'final' cast member for the new 'Star Trek' movie has been cast.

Bruce Greenwood (http://us.imdb.com/name/nm0339304/) will be playing 'Christopher Pike'.

Just in case you didn't know, (or don't care...which would make me sad inside), the other cast members so far are:

Chris Pine (http://us.imdb.com/name/nm1517976/) - James Kirk
 Zachary Quinto (http://us.imdb.com/name/nm0704270/) - Spock
 Leonard Nimoy (http://us.imdb.com/name/nm0000559/) - Spock
Karl Urban (http://us.imdb.com/name/nm0881631/) - Leonard 'Bones' McCoy
Simon Pegg (http://us.imdb.com/name/nm0670408/) - Montgomery 'Scotty' Scott
John Cho (http://us.imdb.com/name/nm0158626/) - Hikaru Sulu
Anton Yelchin (http://us.imdb.com/name/nm0947338/) - Pavel Chekov
 Zoe Baldana (http://us.imdb.com/name/nm0757855/) - Uhura
 Eric Bana (http://us.imdb.com/name/nm0051509/) - 'Nero'...the bad guy...

Personally, I'm anxious to see the original cast reimagined.  I'm the odd man out amongst most folks I know, in that I like the original series the best.  :)

It's either going to spectacularly suck or completely blow everything else out of the water, I think.  :)

It's got 'Shaun Of The Dead,' one of the guys from the 'Lord Of The Rings' trilogy, AND one of the guys from 'Harold And Kumar...'.  :)

You're ok in my book.  TOS (the original series) is the best of tv series.

I'm torn about this new movie - re-imagination - of this part of the Trek universe.  I agree, it's either going to be spectacular, or a spectacular travesty. :dunno

Have they fired Brennon & Braga yet?

Yes and yes.  It's a COMPLETE reboot.  :)

It's a bit scary to see the comedy actors in that cast though. Although I have to admit I always saw TOS as a bit of a comedy show too.

				...and now this.

 HUH?!?

"Winona Ryder Joins 'Star Trek'" (http://movies.msn.com/movies/article.aspx?news=283451>1=7701)

...the only information from the article of import: ;)

"Paramount Pictures and director JJ Abrams have set Ryder to play the Vulcan mother of a young Spock (Zachary Quinto)."

I thought that Spock's mother was a human...hence the half human thing.  I think somethin' might be a little mixed up.

 :)

 This provides valid information, it seems.  :)  Someone's asleep at the switch over at MSN.com.}

That kind of casting gives the whole "mind meld" thing a much more sinister bent don't you think...  :o

I think I'd rather see a Trek film from the 'Enterprise' crew before rehashing and redoing TOS...maybe that's just me.
