Title: Cab's being Sold on Ebay (Not Mine!)
Post by: BUCKETHEAD on November 08, 2007, 07:02:48 pm
looking around on ebay 2day.

And found an auction for a TRON.

Guy says his mall/arcade is being demolished and everything must go.

I think he is in Nashville, Tennessee ?

Anyways his cab's look pretty darn good to be in an arcade.

Thought someone might be interested?

Wow!! Looks like all the games he's selling are classics.... It must have been some sort of retro arcade.  Nice stuff and it seems that it's been looked after as well.

I'm not sure how those prices stack up in the USA but if those cabinets were in the UK they'd be way more than that.

Who runs an arcade and has "limited knowledge of these things"?

silent partners who are left with all the assets after the person with knowledge skips town?  :dunno

Theres plenty of reasons.

That would explain why the guy is putting them all on ebay at once, killing his chance for decent profit.  All those games at once for local pickup only is seriously going to dilute the buyer pool.  He may as well have had an RL auction.

EDIT:  just noticed they are all BIN only... and thus most won't sell at his prices.

They seem way overpriced to me but he does have some nice stuff...

Down here in Nashville, there's an outfit that runs arcade game auctions about once a month.  It's been pretty slim pickings lately, and a lot of the stuff needs repair or is a little beat up...but they still go for good money.  This guy might be better served selling it through them.  But it's his business to sell off, I guess.

the pricing seems to be a bit random...  He wants more for Afterburner than for Galaga.  The pricing on some of those more recent Jamma games like Mortal Kombat just doesnt make sense to me...

Are you saying the MK is too high or too low?

He is selling a Doge Ram 1500 pickup too.  Tell him $4k for the truck and two cabs and see if he bites.  Though you might want to wait until the current auctions close with no sale.

Eh... that's not much of a discount.  I'd say full price for the truck if you throw Tron in too.

8 cylinders are hard to sell right now.  The dealers are blowing them out for thousands under sticker price.  I've been shopping for a truck and the incentives on your average 8 cyl are as high as 5-6k and they're still not selling.

maybe I'm cheap but it seems too high to me.  Its just a generic dynamo cab..  I have a 25" Batman Forever that I'd be happy to get $350 for :D

Yeah! well like I said... If those cabs were in the UK then you could probably trebble the price this guy is selling them for. It's interesting how cheap original cabs are in the US. Wish it was as easy on this side of the pond.
