Hey all!!
I have this monitor, Videocolor A59ECY13X01. The problem is the bright white spot in the
middle of the tube(I'm guessing spot-kill circuit problems?) that keeps popping up,
then disappearing, then popping up etc. (until I turn the set off :))
If that isn't enough I also need to know what plugs on the board is RGBHV input and what
plug is output...The board doesn't say much.
I really hope you can help!!! I would like to see this monitor in action, otherwise I'm
putting a PC MONITOR in the cabinet :o (the purists should scream now)

Thanks!

you have a hantarex polo 1 chassis(videocolor is the tube)
would bloody help if you plugged the yoke into the yoke plug and not the bloody video input :dizzy:
-
Heh...The picture is taken as it was in the cabinet :) I dodn't change anything.
Where should the yoke leads go on the board? I can't see that. There are two plugs that
fit on the board...
I need to know what is what!
thanks,
Nicholas
Edit: Where could a buy a hantarex polo 1 chassis?
-
you see the two green sockets next to each other at the top right of the chassis, thats where the yoke (the thing on the tube neck)plugs in-there are two positions, you can use either but one will make the picture upside down
your monitor will be fine once you connect it correctly
-
Thanks, I'll try that!
By the way, how high does this monitor scan?? 15khz? 31khz??
Thanks!
-
Okay, the problem is still the same...but now there's no picture, and the set goes like
this... ZZZZK...ZZZZKK....ZZZZKKK..ZZZKKKK
I didn't connect anything to the input, does the set need that??
-
well if its a polo 1 then its 15khz
show me how you have connected it,the monitor does not need an input signal to work
normally if you here a pulsing noise and no picture then there is a problem with the power supply or deflection circuit
polo 1 chassis come up on ebay from time to time but it may be possible to repair yours
are you u.k or states based?
-
Thanks! I really appreciate it!
I connected the yoke leads to one of the two green plugs on the board. The ground is
connected to the neckboard. The HV is connected to the tube.
I get the white blotch, which make think of spot-kill curcuit problems on CRT projectors.
The set goes ZZZKK ZKKKK ZKKZK.(this is sound :))
I've taken another picture:

I'm just right of the UK...Copenhagen, Denmark :)
-
well i still think you have the yoke connected wrong as you have no deflection whatso ever, either you have the yoke plug roung the wrong way or your yoke is knackered or the flyback has a problem
i guess you have checked for bad solder joints?
-
All joints look OK, all caps looks okay too.
I inserted the yoke plug the way it can be inserted...
-
well its got me,maybe something to do with the bu508a hdt or maybe the flyback faulty, unless of course a voltage is missing for the deflection i/c's
-
Ok...so what are your thougths: Should I get another board + neckboard, or could the
problem be in the tube elecs? What is most likely :)
-
its difficult to call without the chassis infront of me,my advice is get someone to test the chassis for you first-maybe another forum member or a local arcade because i don't think its the tube or yoke BUT it could be.
if you were good with a multimeter and knew where not to touch on that chassis i could help a little more but i don't want to see you blasted into the north sea :P
-
Thanks! You've been very helpful!!
One last question then(for now)....are arcade monitors build to last? Do they fail often?
I want stability over all. :)

i have polo monitors that are 15 years old and still look great, all monitors get a degree of failure and some are more reliable than others but the positive side of polo chassis is the fact that all the parts are cheaply available
-
Did you ever solve this? I have a monitor doing the same too. Chassis with all new caps and flyback
