Not much of a new project as a very very old one. The best of it's notable accomplishments is residing in my living room. Yes, this one got full spousal approval. :applaud:
Vital Stats:
Msi K7N2GM2 Mobo w/ integrated Nvidia graphics
2700+ Processor
256 MB Ram
80 GB Seagate HD
Inductive joysticks
Ipac-4
wireless keyboard stashed below
Notes:
Required only one 4x8 sheet of plywood.
Looks much nicer in person than in these pics. :)
Slip fit for the monitor
Runs:
Ultrastyle on winXP
I added some scripts so that it can run dragons lair (DAPHNE), super ghouls and ghosts (SNES), and Mr Driller (zinc).
Background music provided by arcade ambiance

Looks awesome mate 8)
Your right, it is very similar to my design (or rather mine is very similar to yours!).
Looks very clean and I like the way you have minimised the sreen size to cab size ratio, this is something im hoping to do on mine too.
Could you tell me how tall the table is and also how high the CPs are from the floor please? Also do you find them comfortable at that height?

Nice job! What front end are you using? I like the look of it...

I can't measure right now, but i took the cp height measurements from a pac cocktail. The table height is really irrelevent, as you just want clearance for the joysticks, and clear sightlines to the monitor. I had to make my table height pretty tall fo clear my tall Suzo's.
And I'm 6'4", so nothing is ever comfortable for me. :) I can play very comfortably on the vertical sides, but on the horizontal sides, straddling the CP is not an option. With all that said, I can still play for about 45 minutes without getting too uncomfortable, but a marathon robotron session is out of the question unless i hit my red pause/shift button.
One thing that you'll never be able to get around is that if two people are playing a horizontal game, they better be friendly or it will be awkward, especially if they have to use all 6 buttons.
The reason I would like to have sunk the monitor is that people shorter than myself find the viewing angle on the monitor too harsh.

If you dont mind my asking is there a way using ultrastyle to make the cube bigger?
-
There is a setup program attached to ultrastyle where you can change the size of the cube - - among other things. The way that i have it set is the larger of the two settings.
-
How about some monitor specs? This looks VERY similar to what I'm doing, and the only roadblock right now is how best to mount the monitor.
Thanks!

sorry, i didn't see your post. I'm sure this is too late, but..
i removed the (rather large) plastic screw covers that are typically on the side of monitors, then i measured where they were and put a couple thin strips of wood up to go into the newfound slots, holding the monitor up by its case screws.
