Couple of things, from a n00b.

1) There is a joystick directly in the way of your spinner.....

2) Those players 3 and 4 controls are WAAAAAY angled.  Imagine you are that player, looking at the screen...with that much angle, its easy to get confused..ie: you want your character to go up, so you push up towards the screen, only the joystick is at an angle and that means your're really pusshing up/right, your character doesn't move the way you intend him to move, and you get all messed up.

I don't think there are any 4 player games that use more than 4 buttons, certainly none that use 7.

I keep seeing posts with people saying that about 4 player games. MAME isn't the only emulator or use for arcade controls. There are a few N64 games that are 4 player. Oh, and don't forget that sweet 3 player playstation game Thrill Kill (6 buttons per player).

KLOV.com mentions a 4 player version of Super Street Fighter. Unfortunately, can't find a mention of the ROM.

Thanks for the feed back...

- Yeah I probably will move the spinner and rotate it to be verticle.

- I have been going back and forth about the 4 player 7 button config but its for future growth  and other emus

- As for the angles of the controllers many other 4 player controls do the same thing with no complaints, plus when I play the movement of the joystick is relative to my body angle.

Yeah, if he plans on putting a dreamcast in there that is fine.  But for just mame, there is no reason.

i like the layout minus the spinner possition mentioned above.

as for the comment about the angle of the stick, from what i can tell, people have the tendacy to move in relation to their body possition, i don't think the 45 degree mounting will really affect gameplay much if at all
