Well folks I decided the other day that my old jukebox needed a makeover, so I took all the buttons out of it, anything else I could save, hauled out back and started it on fire. That night, I sat down with a sheet of cardboard and a ruler and came up with a new design. This one would be much smaller and look a whole lot better. By the end of the night I had a pretty good design. The next day I got on ebay got myself a touchscreen monitor and proceeded to go buy a sheet of 3/4 inch MDF. Came home, scaled my cardboard model up and got to cutting. Put it all together and was patiently awaiting the arrival of the touchscreen. While I waited I remember that I had a couple of wall speakers I had gotten from a buddy a while back and figured I would cut holes and install them in the new jukebox, looks great, all is well. Then the predicament, I have a huge Yamaha 15" PA speaker that is the heart and soul of the jukebox, on the old one I had just cut out a big square and covered it with some metal mesh so the kids couldn't kick a hole in it. Well as I said before I wanted this one to look a lot better, so I found I nice tribal picture, printed it out, transfered it to the front of the jukebox and cut it out (not fun at all!!) A day or so later my touchscreen arrived, I go to dry fit it where I wanted to install it and the front of my jukebox is too small to install actually into the front. So I learned lesson 1, wait until the touchscreen shows up before you build the whole jukebox. Not to worry I just set it on the shelf instead of installing it in the front. Up this point that is about all I have gotten done. As you can see on the top is my patented Clayco cut-out which has a lumileds LED behind it which flashes to the music. Next problem is what else can I do?? Paint job ideas?? If anyone has any ideas please let me know, and also what you think of it thus far!

decase that monitor.. it looks like it might fit without the case. Maybe not but you can try.

If this one is much smaller, I'm interested to see how big the original was! Everything is looking good so far.

Here's the original thread from my first one, the new one here is MUCH better IMO.

Well, I tried to decase the monitor to make it fit, and it's still a little bit too big to fit in the space allotted. Measure twice, cut once, but what's the fun in that right?? Since it wouldn't fit I took the stand off of it, cut a hole in the front of the jukebox to feed the cords through and hung it. It worked out pretty well and doesn't look to bad either. I have the next couple of days off so I'm going to try and get some lighting installed and maybe even figure out to paint the thing, but we'll see what the wife already has planned for me. But so far, so good.

The body looks pretty good so far, but seems like something is missing. Looks like there should be something below that monitor. Could even be another cutout like the one below. You seem to be good with a jigsaw, why not complement the middle of the juke.
But you definitely need to paint it. Just make sure and paint the case of the monitor something similar to the juke or something that complements it so it looks like it is supposed to stick out instead of being to big.
Any thoughts on a volume knob?

At the moment I'm using silverjuke, it's just about the only program I have found so far that can sort my albums correctly and has a simple interface, will play all my songs, and has volume included. So I wasn't planning on even putting a volume knob on it. I really like freebox, but for some reason it won't play half of the songs that I have, it just sort of skips right over them. I was definitely leaning toward painting it black, maybe with some red accents or something to that effect, so I hopefully won't have to paint the monitor. I definitely agree that something is missing below the monitor, I have a 12" lightning bolt thing that lights up with the music, but just setting it up there it didn't seem to mesh right, so I'm probably not going to put that on there. I'm going to have to brainstorm on that one. But as soon as I progress a bit more I'll get some more pics posted!

This is totally off topic, but I just have to throw a HUGE thank you out there to Barcrest!! If anyone is looking for a great jukebox program with one hell of a guy standing behind it, quit pinching those pennies and buy Freebox from him!! :notworthy:
