I just won a donkey kong board off of Ebay for pretty cheap. Seller said it was tested in a cabinet and worked perfectly.
....what should I do now?
-
Pay for it? :laugh2:
-
Send him a bogus cashier's check for the amount + 5000000 dollars and ask for the difference?
:laugh2:
-
I mean...should I try and sell it and make a profit, or should I now find a cabinet in which to load 'er up?!
If I actually keep it, I'd wanna do a full restoration of some sort...

2 weeks later...
I just sold this donkey kong board on Ebay. Made a nice profit.
....what should I do now?

Do you always buy things impulsively with no idea what you're going to do with it? I can help you. Send the board to me, free of charge of course -- ohh, and you pay shipping too -- and you'll be instantly cured of impulse shopping. ;D

a long time ago someone and thier brother made a pretty nice pair of nintendo cabs. one was donkey kong other was mario brothers i think. 1 blue and 1 orange for his brother. dont have a link but it made you wanna make a nintendo cab thats for sure. i think you should build one of those type of machines. with the dedicated board.

Define cheap. Odds are you won't make that much. Either way, you would do good to find a machine and sell it as fully tested and working 100%. I have bought more than a few things cheap thinking I will use them. I've made a few dollars reselling from my stockpile, and by a few I mean literally just a few single dollars. Hey they add up though. ;D

Wasn't really on impulse. I thought it through: I can either A) Sell the thing to someone or B) Make a project of it, and keep it for myself! Either way is good for me!
-
If you sell it, make sure you tell 'em it's gilded.

To be fair ANFNC, I think you need to make that decision yourself, or at least look into the projects forum to see what's involved in a restoration.
You only have a relatively tiny part of a full cab though -- a bit like buying a Defender stick and building a cab round it.
I would sell it on to someone who has a cab with a broken board because thats where it'll be most useful.
Good luck

Funny hou should mention that, because I found a guy in PA who is selling two DK cabs for about 50 bucks each. One of them has the wiring harness intact.
Might be the start of a really fun project!

Problem is, you've bought a board and taken the sellers word that it works 100%. Now you have no way to test it and confirm it works. If you sell it, you can't honestly confirm that it works and say it is 100% working.
A bit of an ethical dilema. Are you prepared to ASSUME it works and sell it to someone who may get screwed?

What's your Ebay ID then so I can put you on my list of people NOT to buy from?

I would say that you should find a way to test the thing before you try to sell it again.. Otherwise, you either A) lie and tell folks that its tested or B) sell it "as is" and not make very much off of it. You could always buy a Jamma adapter for it and then you can test it out easily and then sell the adapter. That's of course assuming that you have a way to test JAMMA boards. or You could always send it to me.. I have TWO DK cabs ;)
