Hi guys iv been trying to run NeoRAGEx 5.0 and Zinc with Mamewah with no success and have instead opted to have short cuts to the various zinc games on my desktop and a short cut to the NeoRAGEx 5.0 exe. Only problem is that this is a real pain in the ass if I want to play them as I have to escape from mamewah and get my mouse out from behind cab and double click on each game and repeat process each time I change game.
Is there a way of getting these programs to work with mamewah or because of the way these programs are is it just not possible? thanks guys hope you can clear this one up for me.
-
There's a way with Zinc, but I have no idea how. ;D
NeoRageX is impossible to run through any frontend. Any reason you're using it? I would recommend you use Nebula instead. It runs at 60fps on my old 400mhz pc. It can be run from the command line also. To create a rom list just download the a dat file http://www.logiqx.com/Dats/ here's my ini file if you're interested.

Thanks buddy I use neorage as it runs the metal slug series and snk vs capcom that Iv not seen work on any other emulator. In saying that I did originally download all this stuff a few years back. Do you know if all my SNK roms will work with nebula and is it hard to set up?

There's a hacked version of Kawaks that runs those games...
-
Which ever is easiest to set up I have also altered my button configuration from standard mame so I will need an emu that I can alter button configs on. My mamewah is perfect at moment apart from not having zinc and snk roms working so a guid for zinc and this nebula would be ace.
-
There's a tutorial here http://www.mameworld.net/easyemu/
I've attached an ini file for Mamewah. In order to generate a game list correctly you need dat fille. It's also included just place inside your nebula folder and modify the ini file to point to it.
-
Hi buddy have been trying to get nebula working without much success I have tried loading one of my snk roms Metal slug 5 i placed it into rom folder but it doesnt recognise its there.
-
Metal Slug 5 doesn't seem to be supported. Are you having problems with other roms as well?
-
Metal Slug 5 is working in Mame now too. FYI.
-
Yeah having problems with metal slug 5 and snk vs capcom the main reasons I was using non mamewah friendly neorage is there a mamewah friendly emu that can support these games? and one I can customise button configs?
-
The only other one I know of is Winkawaks http://cps2shock.retrogames.com/download.html Only problem is you need to use a wrapper for it to work properly through Mamewah. And the only way to exit is by pausing the emulator (ENTER) then pressing Alt+F4. It isn't a problem for me since I use usb gamepads along with xpadder or joytokey. http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=57045.msg561021#msg561021
-
Yeah that sounds a bit tricky especially as I dont have access to keyboard from cab not without a lot of messing around. Thanks for suggestion guess i'll see If I can get zinc working in mamwah if i manage that then its a result and id be happy with that.
-
Right im having major problems here can someone who has managed to get zinc working in mamewah please put up an idiots guide for me the idiot who cant get this sorted.

Marky,
The reason it doesn't work from Mamewah is because you are not passing a [name] parameter (which mamewah gets from the zinc.dat file) to tell zinc what game you want to play. eg:
c:\zinc\zinc.exe [name]{nodosbox}{safelaunch}
Also you should not use {autodosbox} with anything but mame.
Finally, why not save all this trouble and just download the Zinc setup files I have just reposted on this forum here :cheers::
http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=73330.0
Are you using mamewah 1.61? The mamewah zinc files I posted are for 1.62b9+, and there are some minor config file formatting differences to be aware of. No big deal though.
-
Hi mate yeah I use version 1.61. I must admit I dont understand how mamewah works and the ini system is a nightmare to configure for me. I have tried to do what you said but still I cant get it to work and I know that im probably mis understanding what your trying to explain to me. I have typed in what you said verbatim but still no joy.
-
Marky, as a suggestion, you could make life easier and get better support if you update to the latest software first. The whole Mamewah config system and command syntax has been changed. People like me may have trouble trying to remember how old software works.
I recommend that you download the latest MAMEwah (v1.62b13) from jcrouse's site and use the files I posted in the other thread. It should work very easily then.
http://mamewah.mameworld.net/downloads.htm (http://mamewah.mameworld.net/downloads.htm)
For mamewah 1.61 this will probably work but I can't test it. The following assumes that you are using the "zinc.dat" and properly generating a game list with full game names. It also assumes that you are using the controller config files I posted earlier.
In your zinc.ini for Mamewah, Change your emulator command line to read (cut & paste):
emulator_executable c:\Zinc\Zinc.exe
Then change the command line format (next line) to read (cut & paste):
commandline_format [name] --use-controller-cfg-file=c:\zinc\ini\[name].ini{nodosbox}{safelaunch}
If that doesn't work, then update mamewah to the latest version and try again.
-
Hi buddy iv upgraded to latest mamewah but it seems a lot different to the version im used to I cant change window size and on my old version I ran a snes, genesis, nes, gba emulator but cant see where I need to put the ini files to get these to run. Sorry to be a real pain in the ass but i will get there in the end.
-
... upgraded to latest mamewah but it seems a lot different to the version im used to ...
This is also why it is hard to comment on the older version of mamewah.
I can't test it, but I noticed that the commandline_format for 1.61 above had a syntax error - an extra space :banghead: so I edited the post and removed the offending space. You could try cut&pasting that again with your old setup to see if that works.

And if that doesn't work, try 1.61 without the controller cfg parameter
commandline_format [name]{nodosbox}{safelaunch}
Also, make sure that you look in the "mamewah.log" file to see what is really happenning.

Suits00, you are very helpful but it's probably best for you to just refer to the thread where I originally posted those files, rather than posting them repeatedly. It causes confusion (multiple threads) and duplicates files on the server. Also, I deserve my 2 cents worth of credit for going through each game and working out all the controls and writing those INI files in the first place.

Zinc brother, more the merrier! I certainly don't know it all, and don't be dissuaded from posting. Just trying to minimise confusion with multiple file postings! What make me happy is everyone being happy :D
It's all about having fun ;)
