Title: Best lightable pushbuttons???
Post by: SgtSlaughter on October 22, 2007, 09:09:58 pm
I've looked at ton of control panels and I definetly like the look of some of the lighted pushbuttons, but can someone let me know which look the nicest?

The 2 that I've seen around are:

- Novagem lightable horizontal pushbutton:

Anyone know if that picture is the Blue pushbutton, or the clear with blue light?

Also does the RGB-Drive™ Pushbutton Lighting module fit in the Novagem pushbuttons?

- Electric ICE™ Lightable Horizontal Pushbutton

If anyone know of any other that look really good it would be appreciated.  Pictures would definetly help my decision too.

Thanks in advance!

The novagem picture is the clear blue button with the light in it.  I hear it looks great when lit.  I think they have colored buttons with a frosted look to diffuse the light.

I have the electric ice on mine and they are better than anything else out there, just expensive as hell.  The electric ice appear just plain white until you light them.  Then they can glow in any color there is.

The rgb-drives would probably fit in the novagem's, but that would be a waste.  The novagems would only allow one color of the rgb led's to come through.

Were you thinking about the ledwiz on that one?  The ledwiz can light either the novagems or the rgb electric ice buttons.  Should you get the electric ice rgb buttons, you would need the ledwiz controller as well.

Hey Green Giant, thanks for the reply.  I think I've seen some pictures of the electric ice buttons and they don't appear to have the colour come through them that much, almost like a frosted look.  Any chance you could put up or link to a couple pictures of your control panel?

I'm think I will be going with the LEDWIZ anyways... I'm toying with the idea of having my cabinet with the colours Blue, White, and Black, so maybe the White look of the electric ice would look good (when not in use).

Here is a link to my cab, http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=67770.0

There are some videos showing the colors changing.  The electric ice buttons light up great when in use and look white when not.  There is absolutely no color coming through since the  color comes out of the lit led's.

Along with that the ledwiz can light each button to the original color of the game automatically.  You will never need to ask what the button is as they are already lit.

Ultimarc has the Ultralux illuminted pusbuttons (http://www.ultimarc.com/ultralux.html)

Lizzard lick sells several translucent pushbuttons (http://www.lizardlickamusements.com/pages/pushbuttons.shtml).

I like the translucent leaf switches. Especially the way Knievel lit them  (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=37034.msg358372#msg358372).

BTW see the Wiki: Lighting Microswitch Buttons (http://wiki.arcadecontrols.com/wiki/Lighting_Microswitch_Buttons)
