hi i'm new to all of this but this looks like the best place for some advice
i've nearly finished building my first cab and i'm just trying to sort out mala
it starts I've got my game lists and every thing but my snapshots don't show up?
I've taken a few snaps by pressing f12 when I'm in a game and they save to my c:\snap folder
I'm using play the game layout with snapshot enabled
on mala I've gone options-mame-pictures & videos- and set the path to my snapshots but nothing happens?
what am i doing wrong?
any help please as this is driving me mad
cheers

sorry me being thick!!!!! sorted now i didn't know you had to take the pics out of the folders and rename them what ever the folder was called in the snap directory
they show up on play the game layout but look a bit dull how do you sort this out?
Thanks

Is there a quick way to do this as i've got about 5000 screen shots

???
You put all your sanps in one folder with the same name as the rom. Eg 1942.PNG
Tell mala what directory they are in.
Use a MaLa layout that uses snaps
Thats it
-
But when you take a snapshot in mame it puts it in a subfolder in the snap folder named the rom title and calls it 001.png
This means changing every single one, could take hours :banghead:

example
when you take a snaphot from bubble bobble
C:\mame\snap\bublbobl\001.png
where as with older versions of mame it used to go
c:\mame\snap\bublbobl.png

Yes, that would take hours, but why not use the already created snap shots. People were nice enough to do this for you so you don't have to deal with it. Just download the correctly named snaps and you are good to go.

From where?
Can find Flyers/marques/etc but not snaps
-
I used to get them from the Mame32 homepage site:
http://mame32qa.classicgaming.gamespy.com/
There is a link for "snap.zip" file at the bottom. You have to register (for free) at FilePlanet before downloading is allowed (which is free also).
Not real sure if there is another place where all this information can be found .... probably, but I have not been keeping up with that lately .... good luck
EDIT
Here is a site which seems to have the Mame32 screenshots for you directly ..... just click the link and download them.
http://www.emu-france.com/?page=fichiers&idFile=1925

The lesson here is ....... "if you think you are spending a ton of time doing something, then ask BYOAC before wasting all your time" ....
glad I could help.
When you eventually upgrade your arcade cabinet to include all the other emulators then the following site might be useful to you as well:

Ohhh :o I'm still using mame .79. It does not save snaps that way :-)
