Title: Monitor Issues
Post by: Andrew79 on October 16, 2007, 08:18:05 pm
I have a Tekken Tag machine with a Wells Gardner monitor. The problem that I have run into recently is that the left half of the screen is darker than the right side. I haven't been able to figure out how to fix it. Is there anything I should be looking for inside the cabinet? Is this a indication that a Cap Kit is needed? If so, how much does this usually cost? Thanks

Yes you need a capkit. The symptom you are describing is called uneven brightness. Capkits are cheap.

Thanks for the reply! I have never done a cap kit. Do you think someone with little experience in soldering and electronics could teach themselves through the tutorials online to do a capkit without killing themselves?  ;D Is there a good chance you could damage the monitor if you performed the capkit incorrectly? Or is it a fairly simple process once you do the difficult parts of discharging etc..

Also, someone else in another forum seemed to think since I recently moved the machine around in my garage and have been working on the marquee that it might be speaker interference or a degaussing problem. How do you degauss a monitor?
