Anyone with a real Robotron ever measured the box or borderline of the playing screen? I want to compare the to what I'm getting with native rez on a 27in TV. Want to see how far off I am. Playing with HW Strech on the 27 is too much.

I have an empty Roboton cab and I measured the max viewable area as 22.5" W x 17"H.
Don't know if that's the measurement you wanted, but that's what I got on a sheet of paper in my wallet just in case I come across a cheap big computer monitor for the empty cab I have.

I appreciate the response but what I am looking for is a person with a working Robo, once its running... the box around the play area in the game itself, the length and width of that.....

I have a Robotron arriving in a couple of days.
I will post something if someone hasn't done it before hand.

As close as I could tell, mine measured 15 x 10 3/4, outer edge to outer edge on the playfield box. Some of the graphics on mine go slightly beyond the monitor shroud on the left and right (circles on the title screen) so I don't know if it was adjusted or not.

Cool I'll check that, if anyone gets something different or can confirm that please post.

I know this post is old but i've been thinking about screen mearsurements, I know that when you keep the aspect ratio in Mame you will get the resolution that the original game had with black borders around it. Now does that mean that the actual dimensions, Length and width, of the veiwable area is exactly the same size as the original. to say it another way, if the actual dimensions of the robotron original arcade playable area is 15 X 10 3/4 as generously reported by Clu, thank you, when I keep the aspect ratio on my 27inch tv, will it be 15 X 10 3/4? Sorry if that isn't clear,

I think that that would be the case, provided you're running at arcade monitor's max resolution (720x480? I don't really know)... you'd have to either turn off all stretching or double the size exactly, but I think that would produce a centered image that would be in the same spot it occupied on a heavily masked monitor.

Talking about resolutions and such is way, way off for what you are talking about.
Robotron had a standard res 19" screen. It is a much harder game on a 27" monitor because it is harder to see everything at once.

yeah, I don't want a fullscreen image, i just want the exact size screen that the original had, my question is that can mame do that with certain setting no matter what size monitor you are using?
