Title: EPROM programmer
Post by: Arm123 on October 12, 2007, 01:29:03 am
Here is a topic i have not seen asked about much.

I want to buy an eprom programmer.

I was looking at a few on ebay, and its littered with lots of cheap ones.

What sort of features does one look for in a EPROM programmer ?  Or better yet, what to avoid ?

Thanks.

the one i have at my workplace (a fairly old 1200 series from BP microsystems IIRC) is nice because it has interchangeable heads that will allow you to read/write old DIP style eeproms, as well as the socketed types (PLDs?), and even the TSOP variety of flash parts.  It attaches to the PC via the parallel port, so it's somewhat dated, but still works perfectly, and really, speed isn't THAT important-it'll burn a 1MB flash part in about 45 seconds...

that's about all I know, but I'm a software guy, so my knowledge is limited.
