So I picked up a "free" cabinet the other day. It looked rough, real rough. I didn't know the extent of it till I got it home and started cleaning it. Once I got inside and started taking some screws out - the amount of damage became clear. When pulling out the t-mold ripped out big chunks of plywood I decided it wasn't worth saving. Lots of dryrot and water damage.
Any of you guys go through all the hassle and end up burning several hours for nothing?

Chalk the hours lost up to experience -- the time is not lost.
This hobby is far from an exact science, and everyone is going to misfire every now and then. At least you aren't out any real $$ for the cabinet. That's one that can really sting.

They never get away.
I just finished one that had water damage. I chopped it up.
I just posted it for future reference.

Good point spacies... it was salvageable, but it was a cost much higher than I was willing to pay.

Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.
This past weekend I definitely won - I got a free Hard Drivin cockpit cab, only things that don't work are the steering and the seat doesn't lock into place...
:applaud:
I'm sure that wasn't your last cab, so the next one will be a keeper!
