(I originally posted this in another forum without any answers, so I thought I'd try hear. If it's against the rules, sorry, just dump it.)

If you want to repair computer monitors and current TVs then these look ok.  If you want to repair old arcade monitors then the course from Randy Fromm is apparently the way to go.  Sometimes available on ebay, really expensive.
