K.I.S.S. -- I say pre-order and move on :)
No need to vote, just do an informal poll here... Do you prefer Build Restore Play or How Retro Can You Go?
1) Thematically, the slogan should fit.
As for issue #1, I don't have a clue on how to guarantee that.
"One coin to rule them all...." remember that mess?
"One coin to rule them all...." remember that mess?Oh don't start. (Runs and hides from patrickl)

No need to turn these into ass tokens.LMAO!!!
EDIT: Found it. "MAME IS OK though, we have approval to use the logo if we like as long as we respect the spirit of MAME - i.e. no references to playing thousands of games, etc." http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=66659.0[Emily Litella Voice]Oh.. that's different then. Never mind.[/Emily Litella Voice]

I vote we change the slogan to "Ass Tokens".
That might require a slight change in art... one I'm not sure I want to see blinged. No need to turn these into ass tokens.

Erm...Yes please. Yes yes yes please.
2006 tokens anyone?
;D
Mark, some of us actually do want more 2006 tokens. I just ordered a couple hundred from 2004 and 2005 last week.
Get over it, dude. A lot of people like the token design this year. Since you don't like it, don't buy them, and STFU.
.......and I hate to admit it but these new all-in-one slogans are actually pretty good.
"One Token Ass To Destroy All The Retro"

A bit harsh bro - I won't be buying them, but will buy 2006 tokens if offered... Sorry to offend you by requesting last years tokens..
:P
(RSS feeds catch all... All your posts are belong to me! ;) )
My irritation was that you kept voicing your displeasure with this year's tokens and I found that disrespectful to this year's winner.

Seriously though, Congratulations, it really is a well designed token...

I'm hoping Santoro gets enough pre-orders for this years tokens, let alone 2006 tokens. :dizzy:
Preordering is open!!!!!!!!WHOO HOO!!!!!
http://www.arcadereplay.com/index.php?cPath=27_33
...everyone ends up with too many tokens.
One more suggestion: Could you implement the option to preorder 50 or 100 tokens? I already have a ton of tokens, and really only want a small number. There are probably plenty others who would be up for 50 or 100, but not 200 too.

How about setting up a group buy for people who want smaller quantities?
I've done this with people here on several occasions for other products.
I asked this very question last year and got shot down then too. :(

What was the reasoning?
What was the reasoning?
I need to structure the sales in a way that we get enough orders to justify making the tokens at all.. this due to factory minimums. I also need to be sure I don't get stuck with too many unsold tokens.
Because of this, I do the same thing every year.. We have minimum orders of 200 of each metal for the first round, then a a few months after the tokens are avaiiable I make 100-lots available. If I had 100 or 50-lots available up front, most people would go for those to save money. This is not a very big market, and it's likely we would either not have enough tokens to order at all, or I might not make any profit at all due to unsold ones.
This way everyone wins.. If you want a smaller lot, you will be able to get one, you just need a little patience.
But, again, for those who don't want to wait and risk losing out...I'm willing to help organize a group buy.
I feel like an idiot, having done it reflexively, as I've jumped in on group buys for BYOAC-ware in the past.
Seriously, if the minimum order is per person, I'm TOTALLY cool with looking like an idiot for not thinking it through. I've already ordered my 500.
I guess I'm just used to how many cheap ---daisies--- are on this forum. ;)
I guess before I opened my mouth I should have thought about whether or not this appeared to undermine the minimum order requirement. I want to hold on the group buy offer until I get the blessing from Santoro, out of respect for all the effort he puts into creating these tokens.
It doesn't always have to be about being cheap. I bought into the artwork group buy at $50. I just have no need for 200 tokens. I don't even have a need for 50 tokens, but would like to show my support with an order none-the-less.
Oooo hadn't thought of that. I guess group buys pretty much negates the concept of minimum order for production.

It does. And I'm going to take the onus off of santoro and suggest that people order the minimum or just wait, since he's a nice guy and will probably say, "uh, go ahead and do it", even if it undermines the whole thing.
From a pre-production stand-point, his minimums make sense. Sorry I hadn't thought about that more, forget I said anything.
For those that think 200 is "oddles" of tokens, put 200 quarters into a pile and you realize it isn't as many as it sounds like. And it would get a bit annoying having to open up the coin box after every 200 drops to get them back out.
I understand it is a big outlay (bigger each year), but IMO worth it.
Do you find they disappear after a while? That's what I'm most concerned about... paying good money for custom tokens only to find in a year that 75% of them are missing because they walked off with guests or the kids did random things with them.
I have absolute ZERO tokens now...
And now I figure my 500 token pre-order might not be enough, given that I want to toss some into a coin pusher, and a slot machine (neither of which I own as of yet), as well as having enough for an arcade machine, for when friends come over.
Would any of you with these types of machines suggest that I up the order count, or am I covered?

You know, I've never even seen your arcade project. Care to post a link?
I've been busy with work and a new house, all that jazz.
And designing some fairly fantastic tokens.
As a deterrent to that mentality (and because it is true) I will let everybody know now that I regularly drop the ball on things like this, I may very well order 200 and not sell any to anybody because I am too lazy or forget.
BTW I only ordered 200 tokens and I have to admit that I really think that is enough,Only 200? Remember, your tokens can be used for other purposes as well.... for example, one day you might get really really bored and end up submitting something to www.coinstacking.com
I'm planning on ordering Monday (payday)... 100 of each (brass and nickel).. So keep the orders open a bit longer!!

Status update:
It really doesn't look like Nickel is going to happen this year as we are struggling just to get to the levels we need for Brass.
I am curious though, what the shipping is going to be to 98102.
I think around 6$.
Yeah, I knew ordering 600 tokens (800 if you include the 2006's I want) would bump the postage up a heap.Shoulda placed 2 or 3 small orders :P
:woot :applaud: :cheers:I second that.

OK we are ordering the 2007 tokens. I am one order away from breaking even and I am sure I'll make that up.
Looks nice
but it's been a while since I've been here, I liked the one you guys had with the balltop joystick. Is that ever comin back?

the woman at the mint thinks she can get an exception for me so I can order 5000 Nickel instead of the usual 10000 minimum.Cool 8)
I also ordered some Brass MAME tokens and Brass 2006 BYOAC tokens. The store should be pretty well stocked with Brass through the spring.
"Just an update on your order for 2007 BYOAC tokens.
The bulk order has gone in to the mint and we expect to have delivery of the tokens here the first week in December. After that it will be a few days to get all the order shipped.
I wanted to say a personal 'thanks' for your patience during this process. It always takes a while, but due to busy schedules here, this year was even longer than usual. I am certain the tokens will be worth the wait.
Enjoy the holiday season and thanks for your business!"
What's the point of that higher nickel minimum anyway? Do they have higher startup costs for a run of nickel tokens?
The 2007 tokens are expected to arrive the first week in December.

I wanted to publicly thank everyone for thier patience with the process.
I promise we will start much earlier in 2008 so that we aren't delivering tokens when its almost 2009!
I'd like to think I speak for everyone here when I say this...
We greatly appreciate the amount of work you put into these tokens and the risk you take that you can break even after ordering a huge batch. With the always friendly and helpful way you conduct your business, as well as the quality of the tokens we get at the end, a little patience is the least we can provide. Cheers.
Also, a quick thanks to Pixelhugger, Mr. Curmudgeon and all the designers of our tokens. You have not been forgotten.

What, no love for giant, blocky pixels?
..and you call yourself a fan of classic gaming. :dunno
;)
Nickel has arrived. This is very odd as Brass usually shows up first. I'm going to call in case something was messed up.
Nickel was avaiable on the website during preorders and I asked if we could substitute brass if nickel wasn't ordered.
You want nickel in addition to your order, or do you want to change your order? You just caught me before running to the post office.
Is it just me or is the mint getting better?
Whoohoo! My 200 brass tokens arrived today!!!
Sizzler, I assume you are asking because you are awaiting a shipment - I have four orders shipping out tomorrow, we got a little backed up due to the holidays. They usually take 2-3 business days to arrive after shipping (to the US.)
Sorry for the wait... if you were indeed waiting. :)
All of these people have ordered from him and apparently few of them have given him any trader feedback... this feature is only useful if people actually make use of it.
Is there any way I can pay for 200 nickel, but get 100 2007 nickel and 100 2006 nickel?
I just emailed you. There was a SNAFU on my end last month, compounded with business travel making it hard to get to my emails. I'll make it right.
Thems some schweet looking tokens in there... 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, and MAME tokens.

this gives me an idea...any possibility for a mixture of tokens...?
like an option for two hundred...fifty of each year...?
