i came across a dedicated ms pacman cabinet it comes with the game and monitor its the yellow and blue version style cabinet with blue t-molding,.
it has the marquee''control panel art''side art and art around the coindoor..
the guy said he just cannot get the game to come on at all..
how much do think i should offer him for it and would this be good for a mame project or should i leave it as is and get it fixed?

Check the obvious things first like connections and fuses. If it appears that the monitor is good but the board is toast, I would suggest looking into one of the 48 in 1 boards. They are supper simple to hookup and can keep the pacman theme alive.

I vote for a restore. Aussie cabs were largely generic so there is no inherent nostalgia value in unique cabs, but when I've seen some of the Galaga / Galaxian / Pac-man restores on these boards I think "Wow, how gorgeous". If you can restore, I vote for restore.

You can always mame any other generic cab, but not an original classic....please...

I agree. Restore it and if you don't want it, sell it and use the funds to make/build a cab.

Also from your description it's a Pac-Man, not Ms Pac. Might have a Ms Pac board in it (it's more popular) but yellow cabs are Pac-Man.

I figure I'd chime in as I'm in a similar situation. I bought an empty Ms pac cab painted black a while ago. With the intention of putting my Galaxian board in it with a small 13" monitor that I have. Fortunatly I realized that I would never be happy with it this way and that It needs to stay a Ms. Pac. I have begun to aquire parts to spruce it up. I'm not sure I have a "full" restore in me but I have decided that anthing I do to it will bring it closer to it's original condition.
Perhaps bit by bit It will be fully restored.
That said I might throw a PC in there until I get a Ms pac board and a 19" monitor.
I have a 19" LCD and a 1.7 ghz PC ready to go. I'll paint it ms. pac Blue, touch up the Bezel art and restore the coin door. Not perfect but closer than what it is.
