Title: Coverting a sit down racing cabinet to a mame machine
Post by: Hamelhand on September 26, 2007, 04:52:48 pm
I just got a old Rave Racer sit down cabinet with all parts in great condition. Was working till a day ago. I would like to find out if anyone out there knows about arcade machines and where I can find some information on repairing it. It is a Namco System 22 and when I switch it to the options mode the menu select just scrolls through all the options and none of the controls work to stop or select any options.

I built my own stand up machine and cocktail cabinet and they run great. This will be my first conversion.

Thanks for any help with this.

Although some of the people around here have games with original arcade hardware, this board is mainly filled with people who have built their own machines for emulators.

I'd recommend you ask over at the KLOV forums. They are dedicated to fixing and restoring original games.

Good luck,
Rocky

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction.

I have built my own stand up MAME machine and a cocktail cabinet.
Both of which I could have never done without this website.
I plan on converting this racing cabinet to a MAME machine as
well. I was just hoping to get a little more life out of the original  :)

Thanks again for the information.

when I switch it to the options mode the menu select just scrolls through all the options and none of the controls work to stop or select any options.

You mean in test mode??

Use the service switch to select the options....

If it's just scrolling all by itself, then you have a faulty switch.
