Why do some people feel the need to post their name at the end of their post? Do they think it will get confused with others posts on here? After all, it does say the name of the poster when you post a post. :dizzy:

It's almost like calling someone on the phone and saying "Hi, it's me". Obviously if they knew who you were by your voice, saying "it's me" doesn't help any.

They have set up a signature in their profile - much like most people do with their email settings. I'd say most of the signature people are from a more civilized time when it was customary to sign off on any written correspondence.
It is kinda unneccessary here, but it doesn't really annoy me.

I tend to sign my posts when I've been writing up a lot of emails during the day... I usually catch it before I submit but once in a while I won't.
-
Sometimes I do it.

Usually I don't.
Don't know why, but that's how I am.
-
Usually, we do it so no one thinks we are Chad.
(Chad - you do realize this is in good humor...)

Humor - yes.
Good - no. :-*

Good - no. :-*
Oh, ouch...

A better question would be, why doesn't everyone do it?

Why?
I don't know why I do a lot of things...
I don't know why I:
- visit Pn'R.
- posted in a Tommy thread.
- bought a suit coat without matching pants.
- haven't gotten married sooner.
- wore a tie in High School.
- haven't taken up playing the violin.
- quit that job working for my college.
- never traveled abroad.
- never go to the gym anymore.
- don't drink more water; what, with all the Kidney Stones.
Life is just full of mysteries.
Sincerely,
mrC

I know the answers to all of those questions but i still can't figure out why you must end your post with your name.

The idea behind quoting a person is that they have had to actually said the comment in question. All you did there was quote yourself but used my name.

it's there permanently now. thus, you said it :)

Yes, it's a retarded habit some people can't seem to break. Apparently they think that if they don't sign their post, there must be no way to figure out who actually wrote it.

I almost always sign my posts. It's not because I can't break the habit or think no one will know who made the post, it's just because I do it for other reasons and it's not important to me to change my habits just for this forum.
It's also handy if you want to dig up your old posts or replies/quotes to your posts. The Search posts "by user" will catch most of these, but not necessarily quotes or replies.
