Post by: BconpcTake2 on September 24, 2007, 11:28:30 pm
Hello to all, I'm in need of a Generic type control panel overlay. I have gone to Mamemarquees.com but thought they were a little pricey.. Does anyone have any links to other sites or other information on this...Thanks

I understand the sticker shock of CPO's... it's natural. But, you really don't want to skimp here. For example, here are a few machines I've built -

This was printed at Kinkos and cost me $20.

It's made of paper. It required me to cut 2 pieces of plexiglass to cover it. The plexi cost me $17.

Here is another I purchased at classicarcadegraffix before they went out of business. It cost me $40. I thought I could save a few bucks.

Turns out they don't have very durable material. I ended up pulling off the CPO and purchasing a sheet of plexi for $20 and reinstall the CP. Then, the plexi didn't want to stay down on the corners so I had to run some bolts through it (which required taking apart the CP again).

Here is a reproduction CP that I've used.

Sure, it's fine but it was much more expensive than a mamemarquees model. It's a silk screened CP and cost me around $50.

Here is the latest CP I built using mamemarquees

It's awesome. no need for plexi and once you consider the ease of installation and durability it's really a bargain. It cost me around $45.

This is one area you don't want to skimp. I can understand how a "sticker" doesn't seem like it should cost that much, but with a polycarbonate CPO you really get a durable product. I would highly recommend it.

You're right....I won't need any plexi with this CPO and my cheapness needs to be set aside for this. I might be able to save here and there but I've come to the conclusion that certain items just have to be bought. At least MameMarquees gets good reviews and make a durable product. Thanks for your comments.
