Hi Guys,
I am in the process of getting everything together to build a cabinet and all that was left was to get the wood and build it but....
I visited my local arcade and was talking to the manager and he has now sold me a 1991 simpsons 4 player lol (£50/$100)
It is in fantastic condition just needs a good clean etc.
Now i am picking it up tomorrow but i do think it is too clean to rip all the guts out and mame it so i guess i am asking what would i need to actually buy to play other games on it? are they like cartridges? would i be better off just stripping it and selling the parts?
Sorry for the silly questions as i've never looked into actually keeping a cab original so am totally lost.
Cheers

It should be a jamma game which means you can get a 4 port jamma switch. So you could have simpsons, bucky ohare, tmnt, and gijoe (my favs but there are also xmen and cowboys of moo mesa).
I wouldnt strip it but if you do have it done in a way that everything can be replaced.
I say go for the switcher and get 3 more games. Fierfek hold on i think bucky has 3 buttons so youd want to get a game that has the same number of them.

If you have the cab that's on a pedestal like that, keep it. That shall not mame something in such good condition. Plus it's a fun game.

Dont mame it man. Dont change it in any way. If it works good, just clean it up, get it going good and hang on to it. Mame is great, dont get me wrong, but you dont want to destroy a classic, unless it cant be fixed, or whatever.
Where do you live? If its within driving range of Kentucky USA, I will give you your money back for it.
Build a cabinet for mame, or find a cabinet thats already been gutted and use it.
Just my 2 cents worth..

Thanks guys,
Yeah i am going to keep it as it is and build another cabinet for mame but i do like the idea of the 4 port jamma so at least i can use it for a couple of other games
DaOld man, i live in Dorset, England so maybe just a little too far for you to drive ;D ;D
I'll post some pics once i get it home and cleaned tonight hopefully ;D

Don't forget about the Jpac...with that you can hook up a PC to the cabinet and run mame all you want. You will also need a Arcade VGA card. With these you won't have to make any modifications.
You can check them out here (http://www.ultimarc.com)
Good news for you since they are located in England (if I recall corectly) you will save on shipping.
