Title: Finger guard for 200mm fan?
Post by: Avrus on September 17, 2007, 03:03:04 pm
Anyone have a suggestion of where to find or even how one would make a finger guard for a 200mm fan?  I could leave it without the finger guard but it's just going to look unpolished to have a 3/4" gap from the outside to the fan.

Found some 180's or 254's I guess I could just use the 254's ...

Depends on how fancy you want to get. At 200mm, I would go with a mesh like this example (http://techgage.com/viewimg/?img=/reviews/antec/nine_hundred/antec_ninehundred_08.jpg&desc=Antec%20Nine%20Hundred). They're reasonably priced for the sheets that need to be formed. I forget what that specific perforated metal is called though.

Was going to say your size is a bit hard to match so you probably need to fabricate your own from metal mesh available at case moding places.  The honeycomb mesh is the best for airflow. http://www.mnpctech.com/moddersmesh.html (http://www.mnpctech.com/moddersmesh.html)

Just go to the hardware store and get a small piece of "hardware cloth". It comes in different sizes of the squares and you cut it with tip snips.
