ok i bought this soundcard on hope that it would work in DOS ! well i can't get it to work ! Works in Windows 98SE a treat on ARCADEOS and MAME and DOSCAB but as soon as you go to DOS nothing works !
my favorite game when played in windows with the card souds VERY tinney and when i had it on the old PC with 'crystal Semi' ISA card it sounded ACE but the new pc only has AGP and PCI slots.
so basicly does ANYONE know how to get this THING working in DOS and a reason why its very tinny in my favorite DOS/windows game Stonekeep ?

Have you loaded a DOS driver for the specific sound card?
Have you set up the autoexec.bat and config.sys?
For the sound card to work properly in MS-DOS, the MS-DOS drivers must be downloaded and/or the autoexec.bat and config.sys must have lines specified within them. The lines in the autoexec.bat may look similar to:
SET SOUND=C:\PROGRA~1\CREATIVE\CTSND
The above line is specifying where the sound drivers are located. In the above example, this is the location of the creative labs sound card drivers.
SET BLASTER=A220 I5 D1 H5 P330 E620 T6
In the above line this is specifying the sound card settings. Below is a listing of each of the important settings and what they represent:
A220 = The Input/Output Range
I5 = Interrupt Request
D1 = Direct Memory Access
The above settings are generally always used with most sound cards. If you are unsure of your settings when configuring a sound card in a MS-DOS game it is recommended you try the above three settings first.

Great info BobA!
But as that card seems to be a PCI version, I'll just have to say good luck! ..for PCI Soundblasters (and most of the clones) are notorious for being a real PITA under real DOS. And just for that reason I have an ISA blaster on Bombjack ..and it works like a charm. Had to pay all of 1€ for it :)
Anyway, if you can't get the card working with BobA's info, take a look at the following URL for some more info on soundblaster cards & audio cards in general under the real DOS environment:

Hope this helps :cheers:
