Title: I'm so proud...
Post by: More Cowbell on September 14, 2007, 05:12:46 pm
My 12 year old son went on a field trip to a roller rink with his entire 6th grade class today. Yes, roller skating in 2007. I guess there are still rinks around. Reasons for pride...

1) They asked for volunteers to ride with the special needs and disabled kids on their bus so that they would have a buddy on the trip. My son volunteered and ended up being the only one to actually do it.  :applaud:
2) and more importantly... There was a Ms. Pac-Man cocktail at the skating rink and my son obliterated the high score and had a dozen or so kids gathered around watching him play. He said one kid was even gathering other kids to come and watch. The kid wasn't saying, "There may be a Donkey Kong kill screen coming up if you want to watch.",  however.

Sometimes your children really start to show their true potential.

Sounds like a great kid.

The kid wasn't saying, "There may be a Donkey Kong kill screen coming up if you want to watch.",  however.

That's great!

But I think you put the phrase "but more importantly..." in the wrong place...

 ;)

Not necessarily.
Anybody can ride a bus, but not everyone can attract a crowd by playing Ms. Pac-Man.

Wow! tell your son thanks from me. My nephew (and namesake) has a learning disability and it means a lot to hear other kids care and want to make these guys feel a part of the group.

Funny, because that is exactly what I had guessed the cheerleaders would have been saying... Too funny.
:laugh2:

That's pretty awesome on both counts. At that age, I'm more impressed with number 1 though.  :applaud:
