That's the upcoming week's flyer... that's a hell of a deal on that drive.

that is quite a deal

I should warn that the fatwallet thread does say it has reliability issues, so don't use it for anything crucial, I guess.

My brother used to go crazy for rebate deals, so he talked me into some. I think I only recevied about 1 rebate out of 5.
I hate mail in rebates!
What's the point? If something is on sale then it is on sale.
If it is a rebate they expect you to mess up the paperwork, it's a scam as far as I'm concerned.
I would prefer to buy stuff off pricewatch.com at a good price and avoid the rebate scam.
Good luck,
Craig

In some states rebates have to be given at the cash register. I know it's like that in RI... so you walk out the door at the AR price and the store has to submit the rebate.
-
That's an excellent law
As for RI, I've been to Pawtucket!

staples easy rebates are the only ones that I trust (which is what this rebate is). You enter in the rebate codes online so you know they instantly received the rebate, and then you can track the status of it so you when whats going on. I've done quite a few rebates with them and I've only had a problem one time, but since I saved all the tracking info they emailed me when I entered the rebate, it was cleared up easily enough.

I bought a laptop at Staples just before Vista was released. It came with a free Vista upgrade via Staples Easy rebate. The whole thing got screwy quick and I started getting emails saying that I needed to complete the rebate application online at HP. Then another email claiming I needed to complete the rebate online at M$. I had all but given up two months later, when my Vista Upgrade disk came from HP. The next week another Vista disk came from M$. I ended up being able to upgrade the laptop and my desktop ;D

I went over monday morning to see if my local Staples had the drive... they didn't have it on the shelf or in the local flyer. So I guess at least Staples has adjusted their promotions in RI such that most of the big rebate items aren't available there as a result of the consumer friendly rebate laws.

I went in on Sunday, only to find out that they had four drives total, three of which they sold the night before to the same person, even though the rebate forms state that it's limit one rebate per household (I guess the guy just really liked WD, 'cause for that extra $45 more I would have moved to a Seagate) and the receipts had to be dated starting that Sunday (store closed at 9pm Saturday). I figure the guy bought 'em, took 'em back the next day and 'exchanged' the drives for themselves at a lower price with the rebates.
