Title: Looking for a ultimarc mag stick plus that can have more of a travel
Post by: mrclean on September 13, 2007, 12:25:24 pm
So does any one happen to know of a top of panel 4-8 way switchable that has more of a throw on the stick in stead of having such a short travel ? Without seeing any unsightly switches on the top, I like the concept of the mag stick plus.. just the travel seems short.

You can get a longer stick for it.  That gives a bit more travel.

really? sounds good.. because from what ive been reading and back when retroblast was around but not forgotten on the video review it didn't really seem to "move" as much as id like it to. do you have a link for the longer / more of a throw stick is it through ultimarc's website or 3rd party etc...

Will the Ultimarc "Mag-Stick Plus"(http://www.ultimarc.com/JShopServer/shopimages/products/thumbnails/t-stik_plus.jpg)
in addition to adding extra length ball top sticks(http://www.ultimarc.com/JShopServer/shopimages/products/thumbnails/t-ball.jpg)
work with my dream arcades upright cab?
Currently I have what look like superjoys installed http://dreamarcades.com/partssticks/super.shtml (http://dreamarcades.com/partssticks/super.shtml)

I want to make sure I won't need any other adaptors or anything. Did any one do this before? how far out will this extra length make it look? Does any one have pics of Ultimarcs "extra length ball top sticks" installed on a cab ? Would love to see a "throw" video of it in action with the added length Thanks!

All the top switchable 4/8-ways have a really short throw.
The longer sticks don't really affect the throw that much.
I've never found a way to significantly lengthen the throw on a 4/8-way.

What about the Ultimarc 360?

well i know it will perform like a 4 way.. but i want the restrictor plates so it will also feel like a true 4-way joystick

These sticks will fit in your DA upright. However, they use different mounting holes, which isn't a big deal as our CP's are boltless.

However, you will need to use 5/8th in screws, unless you use carrage bolts.

Lastly, the MagStick Plus do have a very short throw. I have them at home, and while I love the sticks I still have not gotten used to them, as I'm normally playing on Supers at the shop.

The Ultimarc 360 is very good feeling joystick though. It may not have a restrictor plate, but it work's flawlessly. If you really want a longer throw and switchable between different modes I think it's pretty much the best solution.

Be sure to realize though that it's not an American based joystick (it's Japanese), so it wont feel exactly like what you're probably used to. It's closer though.
