Title: Easy way to convert MP3 Tag graphic info?
Post by: Frostillicus on April 30, 2003, 10:37:12 pm
Is there an easy way to extract the graphic info (mainly album cover)  from an MP3 tag and copy it into the album directory as "cover.jpg"?

Or do VMJ or digitaljukebox support that tag feature?  If not, are there any similar programs that do?

Thanks in advance  :)

i have covers -  they are just part of the MP3s themselves.  Plus I have access to the VMJ resource - I am just looking for a program like VMJ or DJ but with the tag features of musicmatch or winamp. anyone?

I had no idea a cover could be stored in an ID3 tag...

Yeah it's pretty nifty :)  I used musicmatch's super tagging feature to automatically download and embed all the album covers for each of my mp3's.  It's resource intense process but then again I have a year-old computer  :P

From the musicmatch website:
"Enhanced Super Tagging
Access a deeper selection of album and artist information for all your popular and obscure MP3s. Automatically add more accurate album and artist info to all of your tracks. Super Tagging lets you quickly and effortlessly add track info to your music. "

Maybe I'll just bite the bullet and use tagscanner to extract the image from the tag and save it to the hard drive.

Is this part of the new ID3 xml-based tagging system? I seem to remember that it would let you store arbitrary data in the ID3 tags now. If so (and you can code any), go look on the nullsoft website for info on the new tagging system. I can't remember whether or not they release code libraries.... but you should at least be able to find some useful related libraries, since the new all-magical, all-the-time winamp uses the new tagging system.

Does this work on preexisting MP3s or do you have to rescan the original CD? I'm trying to do something similar (including saving cover to disk) but I have already ripped my CDs a few years agao and I don't want to do it again just so that I can get the covers.
