Ok, i just downloaded MAME32 and i am having some serious problems with it. I have downloaded a few roms and (as per the instructions) put the unzipped files into my ROM folder. But when i try to access the games from the MAME program, or when i audit my ROMS, or anything, it does not recognize that they exist....what gives??
-
do not unzip them
-
i didn't...i put the unzipped files into my rom file and still no dice
-
Did you try pressing F5?
-
yes..and when i do that a bar fills up on the bottom of the screen, disappears, and then nothing different happens

I've had problems occasionally with MAME32 showing roms after upgrading, too.
I think somewhere on the MAME32 forum (http://groups.msn.com/mame32qa/messageboard.msnw) someone posted a method of removing the MAME32 info from the Windows registry, and when MAME32 re-enters the info into the registry the roms show up (something like that). I've also been able to bring the roms back by changing the View type (Icons, Details, List, etc..) a few times until they show up. Good luck!

Dude, put the ZIPPED files in the ROM directory, not the unzipped fiels.

I love it ;D

Ok, i figured out what the problem was (i had multiple versions of MAME on my computer and was putting the ROMS in the wrong mame folder) but now that it is working, when i use mame32 to open a ROM, it loads up the compoants of th ROM, then the screen goes totally black except for the mouse, which i can still move around, but then the screen just stays black indefinitly. what gives?

That's the game. Don't you remember it from the arcade? :P
Seriously, maybe you should try uninstalling all of the Mame stuff on your computer (like you say you have multiple versions) and reinstall from scratch. Maybe that'll help.
