Title: Need some clarification (stupid question alert!!!)
Post by: Jeff AMN on September 11, 2007, 06:16:54 pm
I'm building a MAME setup for my boss and I just have one question (or two) that I need answered. I've looked and just haven't seen my answer, though it's probably very simple.

I have a generic JAMMA cab with a monitor already and I want to use an Arcade VGA card. Now, will the Arcade VGA have the the right input connection for the arcade monitor, or will I need an adapter of sorts?

My other question is about power. Should I leave the arcade power supply in there for the monitor and just remove the rest of the wiring? I've got the PC all set, the panel is done, I just need to throw it all into the cab and finish up.

You will need to splice a VGA cable (or Ultimarc sells a pre-stripped one if you don't want to do it yourself) to hook up the AVGA card.

I left the power supply in mine to power the monitor - recommended.

If it is a JAMMA cab with the harness intact, you may want to think about a JPac (ArcadeVGA/JPac is what I use in my JAMMA emulator cabs).

RE: Power Supply -- are you talking Isolation Transformer (in which case, Yes, leave it in) or DC Power Supply (take it out or maybe use it to power lights, but careful with a JPac) ?
