My brother and I picked up a surf planet jamma cab the other day in fully working condition with a 25" monitor. It's in pretty decent condition, but after awhile the gameplay gets boring. Anyway, could I put any jamma pcb in there? I know I would have to hook up some controls/buttons, but if it's wired for jamma, it wouldn't be too hard to locate the leads on the wiring harness. FWIW, I could always hook up a j-pac and mame it too. But, ultimately, will jamma pcbs work in it?
thanks

As long as you wire up the controls properly, and the harness is wired right for power, etc.. (you might need -5v) it should be a straight swap.

You didn't mention what cabinet it was in. I think Surf Planet was only sold in kit form. Most I've seen were either in a 4-player Konami-style cab (like the one in the KLOV listing (http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?game_id=9980)) or more likely in a Dynamo "cut-corner" cabinet like the pic below. If you have the Dynamo you might be able to just get a used populated control panel. Unplug the molex connector for the existing panel, install the new panel and plug the molex back in. If this is the case, make sure that you get a CP that's the right width. There were a couple versions of those cabinets.
As long as you have a standard JAMMA game (2 player panel with a stick and 3 buttons each), it should fire right up. Other "JAMMA+" games will work but will need some additional control wiring.
